Consumers in many countries, in particular Southern and Eastern Europe, prefer to choose chickens grown by producers who focus on traditional values.

 

These values may include:

  • Specific feather colour or feather type such as naked neck,
  • Limited use of feed ingredients and antibiotics,
  • Animal welfare,
  • Mature ages at slaughter,
  • Specific eating quality,
  • Carcass pigmentation,
  • Small scale farming,
  • Specific environmental farming practices such as regenerative agriculture, or
  • Extensive ranging.

Some traditional production may also comply and be marketed under EU legal requirements or may meet voluntary local criteria.

Hubbard has a wide range of slow and intermediate growth breeder males that can be mated with Hubbard Premium breeder females to meet the needs of Traditional chicken producers. The Hubbard JA57Ki and Redbro Mini breeder females when mated to colour feather breeder males will produce chicks that have the feather colour of their father.
