Hubbard Brings Together Industry Voices in the Dominican Republic to Explore Real-World Poultry Solutions
Dominican Republic – From May 19 to 23, Hubbard® welcomed poultry professionals from across Latin America to the third edition of its ‘Encuentro de Abueleros’ (Grandparent Meeting) in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The event created a space for open discussion around key developments and ongoing challenges in parent and grandparent stock production throughout the region.

“The third GPS Hubbard Meeting reflected our ongoing focus on sharing ideas, finding practical solutions together, and strengthening the relationships that move poultry farming forward,” said Mark Barnes. “This event wasn’t just about updates — it was about meaningful conversations and building trust among people who care deeply about the future of poultry in Latin America.”
The meeting also gave attendees an opportunity to connect outside the presentations, reinforcing a sense of community and shared purpose.
At the conclusion of the event Hubbard LLC recognized Grupo Neria for achieving the greatest saleable chick output in both the female and male lines.
With a full agenda and strong spirit of collaboration, attendees explored topics essential to bird welfare, performance and sustainability — including breeding advancements, biosecurity, nutrition, incubation, and flock management.
Mark Barnes, General Manager of Hubbard LLC in the US, opened the event with a welcome and an overview of current and future priorities for Hubbard genetics. Over the following days, discussions went deeper into practical themes such as caring for male and female breeder lines, protecting intestinal health, and improving results through nutrition and incubation practices.

Participants also took an in-depth look at GP female and male line management techniques and hatchery topics such as Short Periods of Incubation During Egg Storage (SPIDES) and achieving optimal gut health — areas that can make a real difference to hatchability and overall bird well-being.
